A man arrested by police in Milan over the murder of a scaffolder in Sussex has been extradited from Italy.

Xhem Krasniqi, 31, an Albanian national living in Kent, was shot dead on 18 May in Hove.

Edmund Nela, also 31 and of no fixed abode, was taken into custody when he arrived at Gatwick Airport on Tuesday, having been arrested in Italy in June.

He has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

He was remanded in custody following a hearing at Brighton Magistrates' Court and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday.

Mr Krasniqi, died in hospital from a single bullet wound received while he was out walking with his brother and nephew in Church Road.

A man and a woman from Brighton have been bailed until 22 July pending further inquiries.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after he flew into Gatwick Airport on 26 May. The woman, aged 32, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
