The new boyfriend of Tina Nash, whose former partner was detained for life for gouging her eyes, has been jailed for attacking her.

Roland Alli, 32, from Plymouth, had denied common assault but changed his plea to guilty before Truro magistrates on 16 July, the court confirmed.

Alli was jailed for 14 weeks and made the subject of a restraining order banning him from contacting Ms Nash.

Mother-of-two Ms Nash, 33, was blinded by Shane Jenkin in April 2011.

Jenkin admitted at Truro Crown Court inflicting grievous bodily harm on Ms Nash.

Sentencing him in May 2012, Judge Christopher Clark said the attack by Jenkin was one of "extreme violence with catastrophic consequences" and ordered him to be detained in a secure unit for a minimum of six years.

Alli, of Luxmore Close, attacked Ms Nash in Penzance in June.
