Man, 30, dies in car crash on the A57 in Derbyshire

A 30-year-old man has died on the A57 when two cars crashed near the Derbyshire and South Yorkshire border.

The crash happened at about 11:00 BST on Tuesday near the Strines junction, and closed the road for five hours.

A black Renault Clio and a blue BMW 318, which were travelling in opposite directions, collided on the 50mph section of the road.

The driver of the Clio, who is believed to be from Lancaster, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
