Ex-head teacher Robert Haines in court over sex charges

A former head teacher at a Stoke-on-Trent school has appeared in court charged with 13 sex offences against children.

Robert Haines, 44, is accused of four counts of sexual grooming, five counts of sexual activity and four counts of taking indecent images of a child.

He was suspended from his job at Thistley Hough High School in Penkhull, in March 2012.

He was bailed and is due before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 22 November.

Mr Haines, of Brimstree Drive, Shifnal, Shropshire, was bailed on the condition he does not contact his alleged victims, to stay out of Stoke-on-Trent completely unless attending court and not to have contact with anyone under 18 unless another adult is there.
