Asda knife and bottle 'attack' injures police officer and worker

A police officer and a shop worker have been injured in a suspected knife and bottle attack in an Asda supermarket.

Staff said a man came into the store in Market Square, Ellesmere Port, at about midday and started throwing bottles.

The police officer suffered a cut to his hand. He is in hospital with the Asda staff member who is believed to have glass in his eye.

A 59-year-old man was arrested and is being question on suspicion of assault and affray.
