Drink-drive charge police officer suspended

A West Yorkshire Police officer due to appear in court accused of a drink-drive offence, has been suspended.

The 48-year-old Wakefield-based officer, who has not been named, was off-duty at the time of his arrest, Det Ch Supt Andy Brennan said.

He was arrested in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, at 23:30 BST on Monday.

He is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on 20 May charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath.
