'Violent' prisoner Edward Stirling recaptured in Birmingham
A "high risk" prisoner with a history of violence who went missing after being released from jail on licence has been recaptured.
Police said Edward Stirling, 46, was arrested in Birmingham city centre on Thursday evening.
Stirling was released from HMP Stocken, in Rutland, on Wednesday but failed to report to the address in Gloucester where he was expected.
Wiltshire Police said Stirling would now be recalled to prison.
A force spokesman said Stirling, who was born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, has a history of violent offences.
He was serving a sentence for possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence, but was recently released on licence and was due to remain so until November 2016.
