A service to remember Devon and Cornwall Police members who died during the past 12 months has been held at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall.

Four members of staff and one special officer were honoured during the service, the force said.

It is the first time a service has been held in the region to remember those who have died.

More than 100 people were expected and the force said it hoped it would become an annual event.

Lead chaplain Sarah Jeffrey said a national ceremony was held at different locations each year, but the force wanted a local service.

She said the five people who were remembered had not died while on duty.
