Fault cuts power to 1,500 homes

About 1,500 properties were without electricity in parts of east Hampshire and Sussex after a cable fault.

Southern Electric said power was lost to homes shortly after 05:00 BST.

The firm said customers were offline, mainly around Havant, Leigh Park, Rowlands Castle, Stansted and Walderton near Chichester.

A spokeswoman for Southern Electric said power was restored to most within an hour, and it hoped to reconnect supplies to all homes by 12:00 BST.
