Walsall Syria terror suspect charged with passport theft

A man arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences has been charged with stealing his brother's passport and using it to board a flight to Turkey.

Alex Nash, from Walsall, appeared before Coventry magistrates earlier.

The 20-year-old and his wife, who is 19, were arrested as they disembarked from a flight from Istanbul on Tuesday.

Mr Nash, from Bentley Lane, was remanded in custody and is due at Warwick Crown Court on 11 December.

Mrs Nash remains on conditional bail in connection with the terrorism allegations.

West Midlands Police said there had been no risk to the safety of the flight.
