Chester phone lines restored after flood at exchange caused 999 problems

A flood at a Chester telephone exchange caused problems with 999 emergency calls in the area.

BT said the problem hit landlines in parts of Cheshire and North East Wales.

Police said those in the Chester north area may have been unable to reach the emergency services on a landline, while The Countess of Chester Hospital said its lines were down.

Engineers were called to the problem at the telephone exchange and have successfully restored services.
