Rail services from the East Midlands to London are being disrupted by engineering work during the weekend.

Network Rail is working on signalling and track improvements between London St Pancras International and West Hampstead Thameslink stations.

Passengers must get out at West Hampstead Thameslink, walk to West Hampstead Underground station and then change lines to get to King's Cross.

Direct services are due to resume in the early hours of Monday.

Passengers have been advised the changes will add about 30 minutes to their journey.

Justin Page, area director, Network Rail, said: "We know that people's journeys will be disrupted but it is only by improving our infrastructure that we can deliver the safe and reliable railway that many people rely on.

"We would like to thank passengers in advance for bearing with us over these weekends as it will mean some changes to their travel plans."
