A man has denied the murder of another man who was shot in the back in Cambridgeshire on New Year's Day.

The body of Jess Smith, 36, of Common Road, Potton, Bedfordshire, was found in a car at First Drove in Burwell.

Mark Mosley, 42, of First Drove, Burwell, was charged with murder and the attempted murder of another man who was injured.

He denied both charges when he appeared at Cambridge Crown Court earlier. His trial will begin on 7 September.

He also denied one count of actual bodily harm and possessing a shotgun.

Post-mortem tests showed Mr Smith died from a gunshot wound to the back. Another man was treated in hospital for facial injuries.
