A taxi driver may have witnessed what caused an accident which killed two men when their car hit a church wall in East Sussex, police said.

Kyle Careford, 20, and Michael Owen, 21, from Tunbridge Wells, died in the crash in Rotherfield Road, Crowborough, at about 00:40 BST on Sunday.

Sussex Police said an estate car, believed to be a taxi, was seen in the area about 10 minutes earlier.

PC Shirley Ross said the driver may have seen the men's red Renault Clio.

"We are keen to speak to the driver to see if they can help our investigation and piece together what happened," she said.

The light-coloured car, which had writing on the side and a taxi sign on the roof, turned right from Burdett Road and drove along Crowborough Hill.
