Three arrested after £10m drug haul seized

Three people were arrested after 40kg (88lb) of cocaine and 60kg (132lb) of heroin was seized from a car on the M26 in Kent.

Metropolitan Police officers arrested a 38-year-old man from the North Kensington area of London on Thursday.

Two Dutch nationals, aged 26 and 27, were later arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) at Redhill Aerodrome in Surrey.

The NCA said the drugs had a potential street value in excess of £10m.

The Dutch nationals had flown into the UK by helicopter from Belgium.

Gary Fennelly, head of the NCA's Gatwick border investigation team, said: "This international operation has successfully prevented a large quantity of class A drugs making it onto the streets of the UK."
