A van driver has been found guilty of killing a cyclist.

Dean Swift hit 58-year-old Paul Maguire from behind on the A5 in Tamworth in May, 2015.

Mr Maguire, from Paddington, London, was cycling ahead of family and friends when the crash occurred and suffered fatal injuries.

Swift, 23, of Rosewood Park, Cheslyn Hay, was convicted of causing death by careless driving at Stafford Crown Court and will be sentenced next month.

Mr Maguire's family, who moved to Perth, Australia, from Ireland, attended the five-day trial.

They said in a statement: "We would just like to thank the motorists that stopped and helped Paul on the day and also the emergency services."
