A man has been cleared of charges linked to a shooting where the victim was not the intended target.

A single shot was fired through the front door of a flat in Elmore Road, Brighton, in January 2015, seriously injuring a 40-year-old man.

Spencer Bowen, 25, of Heathfield Avenue, Dover, Kent, had been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and grievous bodily harm.

He was found not guilty following a trial at Croydon Crown Court.

Earlier this year, Adam Willis, 33, of no fixed address, was jailed for life after being found guilty of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.

He was told by Hove Crown Court he would serve a minimum of 17-and-a-half-years.
