Library and museum in Hertfordshire gets go-ahead
A library and museum complex is set to be built in a Hertfordshire town after being given planning approval, the county council has said.
The £4.5m building next to All Saints Church in Borehamwood will also house a community hall.
The centre will replace the existing library in Elstree Way and house the Lair Youth Centre. Construction is due to start in the autumn.
The county council's plans were approved by Hertsmere Borough Council.
Meeting and activity rooms run by Youth Connexions services will be available to the whole community, the county council said.
"Older people will benefit too as the new development will provide facilities for various recreational and cultural activities including exercise classes and indoor bowls as well as offering a place for older people to meet," the council added.
It is due to open in December 2011.
