Gang used stun gun in Stevenage robberies

A stun gun has been used by a gang of teenagers on the victims of a series of robberies in Hertfordshire.

The robberies were carried out by six youths aged between 16 and 18 in Stevenage on Friday evening.

Police said one of the offenders was carrying a stun gun which was used on each of the victims, who suffered neck and face injuries.

Three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbery. Two, aged 16 and 17, have been released on bail.

A 17-year-old is still being questioned by police. All three are from Stevenage.

During the robberies in Upper Sean, Shephall Green and Shephall Way, cash, mobile phones and a black leather case were taken.

Det Insp Gary Atkinson, of Hertfordshire Police, said: "Robberies of this nature are extremely rare in Hertfordshire and we are working hard to bring those responsible to justice.

"Three people have been arrested in connection with the robberies and there are further suspects we would like to speak to.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any of the robberies, or who may have seen a group of young men in this area of Stevenage acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

"I am also appealing to parents who live in the area to speak to their teenagers to see if they are aware of anything that could help us in our investigations."
