Masked men threaten store couple with knives in Bedford

A couple who run a store in Bedford were threatened at knifepoint by three masked men who stole jewellery worn by the woman.

They also made off with cash during the robbery at A&J Supermarket, at the corner of Aspley Road and Engsleigh Road, on Thursday night.

The jewellery was Indian gold and consisted of four bangles and two necklaces.

The offenders are described as black and in their 20s.

One was wearing a peaked cap and two were carrying kitchen-style knives.

They made off on foot, away from Ampthill Road.

Det Con Guy Steel-Jessop said: "We're looking for anyone who saw these three men, either before or after they robbed this shop.

"If you were in the Ampthill Road or Victoria Road area between 2030 and 2130 GMT and saw these men or anything suspicious, please give us a call.

"No-one was hurt this time but these men are clearly reckless and we want to catch them before someone is injured or worse."
