High Wycombe inquiry over patient's stab death

A 62-year-old patient has died after being found stabbed at a home in Buckinghamshire for people with mental health and learning difficulties.

Police were called to Hawthorne Road, High Wycombe, just before 0800 GMT.

The man was treated by paramedics but died at the scene, police said. His death is being treated as unexplained.

A housing association runs the home and provides 24-hour live-in support to patients from the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, police said.

The scene has been cordoned off and a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Monday afternoon.

Ch Insp Colin Seaton, deputy area commander, said: "I would like to reassure residents in High Wycombe that we working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Hawthorne Road.

"The highly visible police presence will continue in the area and we have officers available to speak to anyone who might feel concerned."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
