New £5.25m extreme sports centre to open in Hemel Hempstead
A £5.25m extreme sports centre is to open in Hertfordshire on Saturday.
The XC, at Jarman Park in Hemel Hempstead, will house an indoor skate and BMX park, climbing centre, high ropes course and indoor caving system.
Aimed primarily at young people, the centre will also offer a teenage health clinic and counselling rooms.
"Young people told us that they need more than just the traditional sports facilities," said Dave Cove, chief executive of Dacorum Sports Trust which has invested £250,000 in the project.
A £5m award from the government's 'MyPlace' programme, which is administered by the Big Lottery Fund, provided most of the funding.
