Chemical spill in Royston forces evacuation

People living near an industrial estate in Hertfordshire were forced to leave their homes after a chemical spill.

Fire crews and a decontamination unit were sent to Tru-lon, a printed circuits company in Newark Close, Royston on Thursday evening.

The spill involved about 300 litres of mixed chemicals on the York Way industrial estate.

Residents were allowed back into their homes by 21:00 BST, about three hours after the incident began.

They were advised to keep windows closed overnight.
