Brain bleed after 'vicious' punch

A 24-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and a slight bleed on the brain in a "vicious" attack outside a bar in Bedfordshire.

Police said the victim, who was refused entry to Bar Chameleon in High Street North, Dunstable, early on Saturday, was punched to the ground by a man.

He suffered a large cut to the head and is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for information and said the offender left towards Albion Street.

High Street North had to be closed by Bedfordshire Police as paramedics treated the victim before he was transferred to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

Det Con Lucy Lewey said: "This was a particularly vicious attack which could have resulted in far more serious injuries.

"A young man on a night out was left with a very nasty head injury and the loss of a lot of blood in a horrendous attack.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen the attack or knows the offender, to come forward so that we can stop something like this happening again."
