Fatal lorry crash closes M1 in Bedfordshire
A man has died in a crash at roadworks on the M1 in Bedfordshire.
The accident involving two lorries happened at 04:30 BST on the northbound carriageway between junction 12 at Toddington and junction 13 at Milton Keynes.
The northbound carriageway has been closed, with traffic being diverted through Dunstable and Flitwick.
The Highways Agency has said that the road is expected to re-open from about 13:00 BST.
Bedfordshire Police said that the dead man had been travelling in one of the lorries, but it was not known whether he was the driver.
Roads in the area are heavily congested and southbound traffic is also slow on the M1.
