Police plea after girl 'forced' into car in Luton

A teenage girl seen being pushed into a car by a man is being sought by police in Bedfordshire who are concerned for her safety.

The girl, thought to be about 15, was witnessed arguing with a man outside the Golden Crust Bakery in Holland Road, Luton, on Monday evening.

He then forcibly pushed her into a blue Ford Focus car and drove off towards the Biscot Mill pub, police said.

A man was arrested on Monday night in connection with the incident.

Police said the female passenger in the car appeared to be distressed and might have been involved in a fight as the car was moving.

Concern for welfare

Bedfordshire Police are appealing for the girl or other witnesses to contact them urgently.

The girl is described as black, slim and wearing a white jumper with black spots. The man is described as white.

Det Insp Carl Foster said: "I am keen to trace this young girl or anyone who may have been with her when this happened.

"We are obviously concerned for her welfare and want to make sure she is safe and well."

He said she "was not in any trouble" but he wanted to ensure she was safe.
