A rail operator has offered a £1,000 reward for information after a member of staff was headbutted at a railway station.

British Transport Police has also released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace over the incident at Letchworth on 9 August.

Following an appeal for information by police last week, First Capital Connect (FCC) put up the award.

PC Matt Vyse said the victim was on platform one when he was attacked.

Four men got off a train shortly after 02:00 BST and one of suddenly headbutted him before rejoining the group and leaving the station.

PC Vyse added: "Unprovoked and violent incidents such as this are rare on the rail network... we will do whatever we can to catch the person responsible and bring them to justice."
