Man hurt in 'unprovoked' stabbing in Bedfordshire

A 49-year old man has been stabbed several times in an apparently unprovoked attack, Bedfordshire police said.

He was walking along Hillgrounds, Kempston, just before midnight on Saturday when he was approached by a group of youths.

One called out: "Let's get him" and the man was stabbed in both legs.

The victim managed to get home where he called for an ambulance which took him to Bedford Hospital South Wing.

He was kept in hospital overnight.

The youths fled towards Bedford Road after the attack.

Det Con Ian Johnson said: "This was a particularly nasty assault which could have resulted with far more serious injuries to the victim.

"Thankfully his wounds were not life-threatening, but it is imperative that we catch whoever did this."

Anyone who saw the incident or who has any further information is asked to contact Det Con Johnson at Greyfriars Police Station or Crimestoppers.
