Chalfont St Peter teen suffers brain bleed in taxi

A teenager is in a critical condition after he was punched in the head while in a taxi on the way home from a night out in Buckinghamshire.

The 19-year-old had been involved in a fight at Winkers nightclub in Chalfont St Peter early on Sunday.

The opposing groups got into two taxis. Those in the first taxi then got out in Joiners Lane, went to the second taxi and punched the victim.

He went home but his parents called an ambulance when they could not wake him.

Police said he suffered bleeding to the brain and he is in a critical condition at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Det Insp Sharon Hill said she wanted witnesses to come forward.

"The early indications are that this was an unnecessary assault which was fuelled by alcohol and the circumstances are now under investigation.

"A teenage boy has been left in a critical condition in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, so it is crucial that anyone with information which could help our inquiry contact us as soon as possible."
