Stevenage Lister Hospital's £4.5m heart unit opens

A £4.5m heart unit has opened with two specialist laboratories at a Hertfordshire hospital.

The Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre has expanded the capacity and range of treatments at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

The hospital said far fewer patients will need to travel to other specialist units, such as Harefeld in London.

Its two cardiac catheterisation laboratories provide a life-saving heart attack service, it added.

Consultant cardiologist Professor Diana Gorog, said the new centre was "a wonderful specialist centre, offering cardiac services in a one-stop-shop service to patients with cardiac conditions".
