Girl, 13, sexually assaulted in Bedford

A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she walked along a footpath in Bedford.

The girl was in Sudeley Walk, Putnoe, on Monday afternoon when a man pushed her face into a fence and threatened her before assaulting her.

The attacker ran away after a passer-by came to help the girl and police want to trace the man.

A search of the area was carried out and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.

The victim was unable to describe the attacker other than that he wore dark clothing and a hooded top.

Det Insp Paul Cook said: "It is vital we trace the Good Samaritan who came to this girl's rescue.

"Please come forward and identify yourself to police, or if you are someone who he has spoken to about what he saw, please let us know who this man is."
