Royston's St John Ambulance branch closes adult section
A Hertfordshire branch of St John Ambulance is being forced to close its adult section because of a lack of volunteers.
The Royston branch of the charity has been teaching basic first aid and providing support at events in the county for almost 80 years.
The charity says first aid cover for local events will now be provided by other divisions.
County commander Dr Chris Lund, said he was "deeply saddened" by the decision.
"The adult division has been a part of the town since the early 1930s and has done a great amount of service for the local people," he said.
"We sincerely hope that if we can gather enough interest and support within the town we can reopen the adult division in the future."
The cadet division will not be affected by the closure.
