Man killed near Barlaston level crossing

A man was killed when he was hit by a train near a Staffordshire level crossing.

British Transport Police said the unidentified man was hit 500 yds (457.2m) from the crossing at Wedgwood railway station, near Barlaston.

They believe he was in his late thirties and from Stoke-on-Trent.

It is thought the incident happened at about 18:00 GMT on Tuesday and involved a train travelling between Bournemouth and Manchester.

Police said the man died at the scene. They are not treating it as suspicious.
