Luton double stabbing: Potential female witness sought

Detectives investigating an assault and the attempted murder of a father and son in Luton want to identify a woman who helped one of the victims.

The men were with their wives and a young child at a house in Dumfries Street on Tuesday night when three masked men forced their way in.

The attackers stabbed the 33-year-old causing critical injuries, and slightly injured his father, aged 60.

The woman police want to speak to had an NHS badge pinned to her clothes.

She left the scene once the paramedics arrived, but police believe she may have information about what happened.

Det Ch Insp Mark Ross, from the Beds and Herts Major Crime Unit, said: "This was a violent and sustained attack inside a family home.

"We are still unsure of the motive for these assaults but whatever it may be it is vital we track down those responsible. If anyone has information about this incident then please contact the police."

The attackers left in a white Transit van, and detectives are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen it in the area of Dumfries Street before and after the stabbings.
