Pedestrian dies as car hits group in Lower Stondon

A man was killed and three others were injured, one of them an eight-year-old boy, when they were hit by a car on a Bedfordshire road on Sunday.

A Vauxhall Corsa hit the group shortly after 16:00 GMT on the A600 Bedford Road, Lower Stondon.

A man, 69, died at the scene and a seriously injured man, 36, was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital. A woman and the boy were also taken to hospital.

The 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and later released on bail.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

An investigation is under way and Bedfordshire Police is appealing for witnesses.
