Man shot in head and arms in Aylesbury is 'critical'

A man is in a critical condition after he was shot in the head and arms in Buckinghamshire.

Police were called to reports of three gun shots being fired in the Walton Court area of Aylesbury shortly before 10:00 BST.

Officers found a 33-year-old man inside a house in Stour Close with injuries. Armed police were called in an attempt to find the gunman.

A detective said police did not believe it was a random incident.

'No random incident'

No weapon has been found and no-one has been arrested.

Det Ch Insp Gill Wootton, of Thames Valley Police, said: "At this stage it is far too early to speculate around the motives behind this incident.

"However, we do not believe it was a random incident.

"I would like to reassure residents that there are team of detectives working on this case.

"The local neighbourhood policing team will be stepping up patrols in the area and will be happy to talk to any local residents about any concerns they might have."

Mr Wootton said officers were appealing for anyone who may have seen anything in connection with the incident to contact police.
