Bedford man remanded in custody over murder of wife

A 52-year-old man charged with murdering his wife in Bedford has been remanded in custody by magistrates.

Police called to a house in Rosamund Road at 08:25 BST on Wednesday found the body of 35-year-old Afsana Kossar.

She had suffered serious injuries in an attack and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sajid Mahmood, of Sandy Road, Bedford, was charged with murder.

He was remanded by Luton Magistrates' Court on Friday and is due to appear before Luton Crown Court on 2 July.
