Olympic torch relay: Luton event details announced
A Britain's Got Talent dance duo and a High Wycombe band will headline Luton's free Olympic flame celebration, it has been confirmed.
Street dancers Twist and Pulse and alternative rock band Young Guns will appear at the event at Popes Meadow on 8 July.
The two-hour show will also include sets by local performers.
The evening will end with the last torchbearer in Luton lighting a celebration cauldron on the stage.
Glen Murphy and Ashley Glazebrook who make up Twist and Pulse will lead a series of dance performances at the event.
The dance comedy duo were runners up in Britain's Got Talent in 2010. They have since released their debut single, Jump.
Five-piece band Young Guns have released two albums, played in a number of sell-out headline tours and landed support slots with Bon Jovi and Guns n Roses.
Luton is one of 66 locations hosting an evening celebration for the torch, staged by Locog and the event will be part of the Love Luton 2012 Festival from 6-8 July.
Access to the event is by ticket only and the festival team have been taking a roadshow to locations across the town giving out tickets on a first come, first served basis.
A maximum of two tickets per person is allowed and an adult must collect them.
During the 10-week relay, the torch will be carried by 8,000 torchbearers and will travel about 8,000 miles.
The torch relay in Luton is due to start in London Road at 18:12 BST.
