Anglian Water 'confident' burst water pipe problem solved

A water supply problem affecting households in a Bedfordshire street has been solved despite reports of further problems, Anglian Water said.

Residents of Shakespeare Drive, Upper Caldicote, have experienced at least eight pipe bursts since 1 January.

The company apologised for its "clearly unacceptable" service and is "confident it has resolved" the problem.

A spokesperson confirmed a further incident was caused by an "unconnected" burst which affected a wide area.

Residents first lost their water supply on New Year's Day but have had a number of further stoppages.

'Clearly unacceptable'

Anthony Innes from Anglian Water said: "There were a number of problems with the pressure going through the pipe in this particular road.

"We are aware of it happening eight times this year and I can only apologise for that.

"It is clearly unacceptable and not up to the high standards we set ourselves."

However, resident Mary Howell revealed she had already had another stoppage since the company claim it was fixed.

"They tell us it is resolved and then a few days later we get what they now say is another problem," she said.

"There must be something seriously wrong with the water supply around here."
