A 43-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a seven-vehicle crash on the M1 in Buckinghamshire.

One motorist, a 55-year-old man from Bedfordshire, was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital and remains in a critical condition, police said.

Six women were treated at hospital for minor injuries following the crash, shortly after 08:30 GMT.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 13 and 14 has been reopened.

Thames Valley Police said the arrested man, who was driving a Volvo lorry, remained in custody.
