MK Dons FA Cup game: 'No evidence' of racist gesture
Milton Keynes Dons is to launch its own investigation into an alleged racist gesture by a fan, after police said there was "no evidence" of racism.
A man was ejected from Stadium MK during Saturday's FA Cup tie after a third party said he had gestured towards a player on the Barnsley bench.
Police said there was "no evidence that this was a racist incident".
A spokesperson said: "Any action with regard to the spectator will be at the discretion of the football club."
Thames Valley Police said it had interviewed the spectator reported to have made the gesture, the Barnsley player who it was said to be aimed at, and other witnesses.
MK Dons said it would now conduct its own inquiry as it would not "tolerate abuse of any nature".
"Milton Keynes Dons Football Club encourages supporters to express their passion and support for their team at Stadium MK in a secure and enjoyable environment," a club statement said.
"The club is therefore committed to preventing people from behaving in a manner likely to jeopardise the safety or enjoyment of others, or to bring discredit on the club or the community of Milton Keynes."
