A man accused of murdering a neighbour was visited by police before the fatal stabbing, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has said.

Sameer Babar, 35, of Carnegie Gardens, Luton, was arrested hours after Leonard Flower, 67, was found dead at his home in the same street on 22 October.

The IPCC said officers went to Mr Babar's home on the evening of 21 October after he contacted police.

It is investigating Mr Babar's contact with Bedfordshire Police.

The force referred the matter to the IPCC.

Mr Babar was arrested in Warwickshire and charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Luton Crown Court in February.
