Drugs arrests after Meppershall illegal rave

Six people were arrested for drugs offences and about £100,000 worth of damage was caused to crops during an illegal rave in a barn in Bedfordshire.

Police were called to the site off Stondon Road in Meppershall at about 02:30 GMT on Sunday.

About 1,000 people are believed to have attended the rave. One person was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Five other drug-related arrests were also made, officers confirmed.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.

Three others were held for public nuisance and drugs offences.

A summons was issued to one man in relation to the Proceeds of Crime Act after he was found with about £2,500 in his possession, and two people were issued summons in relation to criminal damage.

Sgt Chris Smith of Bedfordshire Police, said: "We've recovered a number of vehicles. We've also recovered a quantity of drugs, both Class A and cannabis."

The site was cleared by about 16:00 GMT.
