Man 'severely burned' at St Albans car garage

A man has been airlifted to hospital with severe burns to his face after an incident at a garage in Hertfordshire.

Paramedics attended Bridge Motors at Frogmore Business Park, St Albans, at 10:25 GMT.

After receiving treatment at the scene, the man in his 40s was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Essex, which has a specialist burns unit.

Hertfordshire Police said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.

Tony Kent, at Bridge Motors, said the man who worked at the garage suffered "third-degree burns".

It is not known how the man sustained the burns.
