Luton Police link 'hit-and-run' and shooting as attempted murders
A "hit-and-run" and a shooting in Luton are being linked and treated as attempted murder, police have said.
A 24-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car in Radnor Road, on the Lewsey Farm estate, at about 23:00 BST on 12 June.
Two masked people shot an 18-year-old in the back as he walked with friends in Addington Way at about 01:30 BST on 25 May.
Bedfordshire Police said "clear links" between the two emerged after public appeals.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said it thought all the offenders were from the same group.
In an attempt to identify the driver, officers have released CCTV footage of a car, thought to be a Seat Leon, hitting the victim in Radnor Road and carrying him towards St Dominic's Square.
Det Ch Insp Jason Gordon said both victims were "lucky to be alive".
"They both narrowly escaped very serious injury and it is clear the offenders on both occasions meant to cause serious harm," he said.
"There are clear links between the two incidents, even though they happened two weeks apart.
"Now they are being treated as attempted murder, [it] will, I hope, make people realise this is serious and come forward."
