Bedfordshire air rifle shooting victims sought by police
People who may have been shot at are being sought by police investigating what they describe as a "spate" of air rifle shootings in Bedfordshire.
A woman was shot in the shoulder in Kempston and another person fired at in Elstow on Sunday, police said.
A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: "It is believed more offences may have taken place which have not yet been reported."
Five people have been arrested and released on bail.
The woman was shot in the shoulder when a person fired the gun at her from a passing car in Bedford Road, Kempston, at about 15:20 BST. She was treated in hospital for her injury.
The second person was fired at in Hillsden Avenue in Elstow about 30 minutes later, by a youth who then ran off.
Det Con Amanda Durrant said: "These were two very serious incidents which involved a weapon being discharged and members of the public fearing for their lives.
"I believe that other offences may have taken place on the same day and would urge anyone who has any information to come forward."
