A man wearing "distinctive" slippers from the cartoon series The Simpsons is being sought by police hunting a serial sex offender in Watford.

Officers say seven sexual assaults have taken place in parts of the town since June, with the offender approaching women and groping their buttocks.

He is described as black, slim, and between 5ft 3in (1.6m) and 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall, with short hair.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area, a police spokesman said.

Officers are linking the seven offences reported around the Vicarage Road, Wiggenhall Road and Exchange Road areas of Watford.

Det Sgt Matthew Waylett said: "I'd like to hear from anyone who recognises this person, or has information about the incidents, as a matter of urgency.

"The man pictured may have vital information about what happened and I would urge the public to contact us if they can identify him.

"He is wearing a distinctive pair of Simpsons cartoon slippers."
