A man has denied rape and sex attacks on teenagers in Hertfordshire dating back to the 1980s.

Paul Drinkwater, 51, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the attacks in Berkhamsted in 1984.

They include an attack on 25 November when it is alleged a 15-year-old girl was seriously sexually assaulted at knifepoint in the Durrants Lane area.

At St Albans Crown Court, Mr Drinkwater denied two rape charges and two indecent assaults.

He also denied three counts of false imprisonment, two of robbery and two of possession of an offensive weapon.

The attacks are alleged to have taken place in the Bullbeggars Lane area.

The court hearing on Monday committed Mr Drinkwater for trial on 1 December, the court said.
