A man has denied killing his wife in Hertfordshire.

Dexter Landsberg, 34, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty at St Albans Crown Court to the murder of Madina Landsberg, 31.

Her body was found at a house in Filbert Close, Hatfield, on the evening of 10 June.

Mr Landsberg, who also denied two charges of assault and criminal damage, has been remanded in custody before a trial, due to begin on 1 December.

Hertfordshire police said the case was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission following "prior police contact with the victim".

A spokesman for the commission said after "careful assessment" it had been referred back for a local investigation.
