Assaulted HMP Woodhill prisoner 'making a recovery'

A prisoner who was left in a "life-threatening" condition after being attacked is "making a recovery".

Thames Valley Police has confirmed the 27-year-old man, who is serving time at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, is in a stable condition in hospital.

No-one has been arrested or charged in relation to the incident at the prison on 20 November.

The BBC understands the prisoner is likely to be returned to Woodhill in the near future.

Police are also investigating an additional attack on a prisoner by another inmate on 27 November.

The two incidents are not related.

The family of the first victim are calling for a full investigation into what happened.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said the victim remained in hospital, "but is in a stable condition and is making a recovery".

She said: "The investigation is ongoing and inquiries are continuing Officers are speaking to those involved. No one has been arrested nor charged."
